Monday, September 6th - Manatee Patchworkers will have June Colburn as our meeting Speaker. All are welcome. There is a $3.00 charge for non-members. We have a 6:30pm social with our meeting beginning at 7:00pm.

The Friendship Knot Quilt Guild in Sarasota is planning a bus trip to West Palm Beach for Sat. Nov. 13, to attend the Mancuso World Quilt Show. We would be thrilled to have the Venice Quilt Guild join us.
I have not worked out the price and all the details yet, but last year the cost was around $30-$40 per person. We'd do a pick-up in Sarasota, and one in Venice, probably close to I75 and Jacaranda. Everyone from our guild who went on the bus trip last year said it was a great time.
Please contact Judy Warasila if you think you would be interested in going.
The details for a Celebration of Life for Penny Garrett have been
finalized. It may be the most unusual one ever seen in Sarasota--for a lady who
touched so many lives all over the country. Other than family and friends,
Penny's greatest loves were quilting and jazz. So I have combined both for her
Celebration!
All of her many friends are invited to be a
part of this celebration. Please help me get the word out about the event so we
can fill the hall. I am using the internet rather than the U. S. mail to
announce the celebration.

Volunteers Needed At Historic Spanish Point: Submitted by Pinky
Historic Spanish Point in Osprey is looking for volunteers to "baby sit" the Guptill House. Shifts are requested to be 2 hours but you are welcome to stay longer. The times are 10 -12 and 1-3. Afternoons are most needed.
The Guptill House has an antique quilt on display. They are looking for volunteers to just sit and greet visitors. There is a recorded talk about the house that the visitor can activate. You can bring handwork. Please bring a few guild brochures to distribute. You will meet interesting people and talk about quilting. It is fun. You can do it alone or sign up a friend to volunteer at the same time.
The Guptill house was the home of the Guptill family in the 1890's, they began taking in winter guests around 1900. The house later became the guest house for Mrs. Potter Palmer. The Guild has set up quilting demos there in the past.
Contact Mike Sprint at Historic Spanish Point for more information - Call (941) 966-5214 extension 260. They will have an orientation session. Or visit http://www.historicspanishpoint.org/ on the web. There is a coupon for a $1 off admission if you want to look around.
