About Us

The Venice Area Quilters Guild founded in 1983 serves over 250 quilters in Southwest Florida. The Venice Area Quilters Guild is made up of quilters of all skill levels from beginner to professional, with interests as varied as our experience levels. We strive to promote the love of quilts, to encourage and preserve the art of quilts and quilting and to share friendship as well as knowledge with others.

The Guild meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month, September through April, at 7:00 PM .  In person meeting will resume in September 2021.
Membership dues are $20 for one year, June 1 to May 31.  Click HERE to print a membership application.

How many reasons can you think of for joining the Venice Area Quilters Guild (VAQG)?? Here are a few:
1. Monthly meetings will now be in person with Zoom access.
2. Each monthly meeting features either a special guest lecturer or a special Guild event (such as the Member’s Garage sale).
3. First rate classes are offered with both National and International Teachers – both in-person and virtually through Zoom.
4. Monthly “Sip ‘n Chat” is provided via Zoom to stay connected with the other members – no matter whether you are in the Venice area or not, and it continues all through the year.
5. Monthly held sewing at an in-person venue (“Stitch Connection”) so you can meet and stitch with your quilting sisters.
6. You can join one of the sewing Circles (or, start a new one!) for more fun with your sewing/quilting sisters.
7. You can make Community Service quilts for the underprivileged children in the area. (Such fun to see them surround themselves with their very own special quilt!)
8. You can make a veteran’s day by donating a Patriotic Quilt that you have made. (Many of these are presented at a ceremony for the veterans – a very satisfying experience.)
9. Be a part of the biennial Quilt Show, which raises the money under which the Guild operates. (This event allows VAQG to supplement meeting lecture and class expenses to provide an exceptional member experience, in addition to the monetary donations made to the local food bank/other charities.)
10. Get involved with the National Quilt Day exhibits and demonstrations to better educate the public about the Guild and get them interested in quilting.
11. If you really love to quilt, you have the opportunity to sign up for the biannual quilting retreat (Quilt Escape) where you can eat, sleep, and quilt for three days/nights without having to cook or clean!!
12. Speaking of access, your membership to VAQG provides you with the password to the Members only pages, which include member information, all newsletters, and the Mystery quilt instructions.
13. Members have access to our newly revamped Library, which has 138 books in topics from Applique to Thread Painting. (There will be book lists by Title, Author, and Type posted on our webpage.)
14. Enjoy a catered Holiday Dinner, complete with a Teacup Auction and Toys for Tots donations.
15. If you are a member, you have privileges with our ‘Sister Guilds”.
16. Involvement with and of the Guild activities is optional – but a LOT more fun as you can make some wonderful, lasting friendships!

The Venice Area Quilters Guild  is a registered 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit corporation supported by our members and our biennnial quilt show. All gifts to VAQG are fully tax-deductible as outlined by the IRS.
